学名、命名者与年份 : Gymnothorax javanicus (Bleeker, 1859)

简介 :
俗名錢鰻、薯鰻、虎鰻、糬鰻(澎湖)。棲息於礁區、近海沿岸，深度0-50公尺，有毒性，可食用，無觀賞價值，是經濟性魚類，分布於印度至太平洋，產於臺灣南部、北部、東北部、澎湖、東沙、南沙，最大體長300 cm，模式種產於印尼爪哇。
形態特徵 :
體延長而呈圓柱狀，尾部側扁。上、下1-2列。脊椎骨數140-143。3-4列黑色大斑，間隔以淡褐色網狀條紋，隨成長其大斑中心產生若干淡色的小斑，鰓孔及其周圍為黑色。
棲所生態 :
主要棲息於淺海珊瑚、岩礁的洞穴及隙縫中。以魚類為主食，偶食甲殼類。
地理分布 :
分布於印度-太平洋區，西起紅海、東非，東至馬貴斯及皮特康島，北到日本及夏威夷，南至新
